what a teacher shouldn’t do

I still close my eyes and remember

how your pridefulness tasted bitter

you cared more about yourself and proving you deserved our attention

meanwhile having favorites and letting the room know

you wasted time

we watched movies about critical thinking

but we never thought or spoke critically during our sessions

a writing class but real literature wasn’t shared

other than your own allegory

of an allegory

of the Bible

how is that fiction?  how is that your own idea?

you didn’t inspire us

you just stifled our imaginations

and I still get sad about it because we could have learned so much

    • Aw thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Sadly, I did have a horrible teacher but it has given me the desire to be a teacher myself – a good one too. And fortunately, I have been blessed with some other absolutely fantastic teachers. : )
